Smart Rename feature is really nice. I tried it on various objects and object types. Generated scripts look good.
However, it seems that only objects within the current database are considered for dependency checks, right? This would be a major drawback, since dependent objects in other databases/instances/servers would still get broken.
Will this feature get enhanced with cross-database/cross-server dependency checks until the final release? _________________ Regards, Klaus |

This would be a great capability for the feature, but it's not something we can easily do for the next release.
In the meantime, you might want to consider using SQL Search to help identify references to your renamed object? It might come up with a few false positives as it's just a textual search, but may nonetheless save you significant time.
Kind regards,

Yes, we are currently using SQL Search for this investigations. However, since it is a manual process, we are looking for automatic dependency searches. _________________ Regards, Klaus |
