I need to try a remote install using a port that is not 1433. Is there anyway to do that? Or I am going to have to go to the SQL server machine to run the .exe created by packager? I'm not the DBA, but supposedly I have rights on this 2008 SQL server to create this database.
Thanks,

I created an alias to let it handle the port #.

Thanks for the update.
You can also specify the custom port when you connect with SQL Packager to the instance, using the format server, port e.g.
