|
|
Hi all,
SQL Dependency Tracker 2.5 (exact version 2.5.0.558). Clean, first, new installation. Fresh trial version, never expired, never installed before at this PC.
Installer file SQLToolBelt.exe downloaded today from original red-gate site. Installation goes without problems. When I try to start Dependency Tracker for the first time, it just crashes
I am offered to debug exception that occured, here is some info about that exception, that may be valuable for you :
| Code: |
System.TypeInitializationException : {"The type initializer for 'bD' threw an exception."}
Source : "RedGate.DependencyViewer.UI"
Stact Trace : " at bD..ctor()\r\n at bu.a(String[] )"
Module : {RedGate.DependencyViewer.UI.exe}
Assembly : {RedGate.DependencyViewer.UI, Version=2.5.0.558, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7f465a1c156d4d57}
InnerException : {"The RPC server is unavailable"}
NativeErrorCode : 1722
Source : "System.Drawing"
StackTrace : " at System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings.get_InstalledPrinters()\r\n at bD..cctor()"
TargetSite : {StringCollection get_InstalledPrinters()}
TargetSite.DeclaringType : {Name = "PrinterSettings" FullName = "System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings"}
TargetSite.Name : "get_InstalledPrinters" |
It seems to me that the exception is thrown when Dependency Tracker is trying to search for printers, there is NO PRINTER installed at my PC.
Operating system : Windows XP PRO SP3, 32-bit, EN
.NET Frameworks installed : 1,2,3,3.5 SP1
Visual Studio 2008 Team System Development Edition SP
MSSQL Server 2008 Developer Edition 32-bit
3.7 GB of RAM (4 physically), plenty of RAM free
huge HDD, almost free |

UPDATE :
Dependency Tracker crashes when Print Spooler service is not running. If it's running, everything is ok. |

Hi maci,
Thank you for your forum post. This is a known issue with Dependency Tracker and a few of our other tools. Are you ok to keep the Print Spooler Service running or is that not an option for you?
(I actually posted this on Monday but it didn't seem to actual go up!)
