Restore failed with error on page (0:0)

I'm using SQL Backup to Microsoft Tape Format converter
Version 6.0.0.412, (c) Red Gate Software Ltd 2004 - 2009 to convert our Redgate backup version 6.4.0.56 to Microsoft native format.

The convert completed successfully but the restore failed with the following message :

Msg 3183, Level 16, State 2, Server MAPP, Line 2
RESTORE detected an error on page (0:0) in database "DB01" as read from the backup set.
Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Server MAPP, Line 2
RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally.

The redgate backup file is good because I was able to restore it using Redgate 6.4.0.56 on a different server ( I don't have the license on this new server yet, because it will be replacing an existing one - the license will be transfered only at that time ).

Is there a newer version of SQB2MTF that I can download and use ?
I think that there is an issue with SQB2MTF 6.0.0.412 .

Possibly a corrupted backup file. Was the backup file created using the same version of SQL Backup i.e. 6.0.0.412?

When I run sqb2mtf.exe I get the error:

SQL Backup to Microsoft Tape Format converter
Version 6.0.0.412, (c) Red Gate Software Ltd 2004 - 2009

Device index out of range: 152

Any ideas what this means?

i downloaded the zip file and unzipped it. i get th efollowing error whne trying to run sqbconvertergui.exe

SQBCONVERTERGUIEXE - .NET FRAME INITIALZATION ERROR
UNABLE TO FIND A VERSION OF THE RUNTIME TO RUN THIS APPLICATION.

PLEASE ADVISE.

I really like the GUI tool, but would like to use the overwrite existing files option with the command line tool too.

Hello,

Multithreaded, single-file backups are a feature specific to the SQL Backup software and there is no equivilent feature in native SQL Server backup. This is why a SQL Backup multithreaded backup is converted to a collection of .BAK files that have to be restored in one go by specifying multiple DISK parameters in the restore command.

Merge Duplicate bak files that are created during conversion

Does anyone know of a way to merge the many bak files that are created from converting one SQL backup file to MS SQL backup format into one bak file instead of many besides running the backups single threaded.

My company would like to run the backups multi-threaded but need to end up with one bak file after the conversion to give to our clients

This is a known issue and has now been resolved in the latest build.

This fix will be present in the next minor release, but you can email me (robin.anderson {at} red-gate.com) for a copy of the latest exe and related drivers before then.

Good, that's the official release.

I suspect that the virus scanner heuristically flagged a false positive. The DLL does contain executable code after all (albeit .NET), which can scare email scanners regardless of intent.

As a result of this, we're disucssing putting popular virus scanners in the build chain to look out for this kind of thing.

Sorry to hear the file got flagged. I ran some tests which came back clean. Could you please confirm which version of the file you have?

Just to let you know:
A hired developer received one of our databases (version 6 backup).
Since he only had the old converter, I was sending the version 6 converter via e-mail.
Our websense message scanning service quarantined the message:

Subject: Notification: virus : W32/Swizzor-based.2!Maximus : Emailing: RgSqbConvHelper.dll

I sent the link to the developer for him to download the tool himself, but maybe you want to know these kind of messages since it might scare some people (surely when 2 network administrators come to your desk asking questions).

PS: the tool was zipped when I emailed it. We tried all 3 files seperately and only the file stated above was stopped.

Hello,

The converter can be found in the SQL Backup 6 installation directory, but yes, you can also get it from the link on the labs site in case you don't feel like installing all of SQL Backup just to get the converter.

Where is the .zip archive that you are referencing? The only converter I found is here http://labs.red-gate.com/index.php/SQL_Backup_to_MTF_Converter. Is this the right one to use for the version 6 software?
