RE: FieldMapping not valid for MatchingMappings

We were receiving the same error and found that it was due to a single table that had changed schema and the comparison file no longer could reconcile the mappings. To fix, you can open the .sdc file in a text editor (I recommend Notepad++) and cut out the bad table nodes. Then you can open the file in RedGate, re-select the table, and re-compare. Hope this helps!

Thanks,
No, the field does not contain corrupt data.
Do you have any other suggestions?

Edit: when using version 9.0 of the SQL Data Compare Engine the same error occurs, but with a slightly different stacktrace:

RE: SQL Data Compare 9 - Only sync the last X months of data

Yes, you can add a SQL 'where' clause to each table, to filter the data you're synchronizing. You can configure this on the 'Tables & Views' tab.

See here for more info.

I hope this helps.

SQL Data Compare 9 - Only sync the last X months of data

With SQL Data Compare 9, is it possible to only sync the last 3 months of data for certain tables?

We want to use Data Compare to do a data extract weekly and for some tables we only wants the last 3 months worth of data.

Is this something that is doable with SQL Data Compare 9?

Thanks,
RE: Possible bug: @PV variable declaration.

We are having the same problem with our upgrade scripts. We run them through the exes created by SQL Packager V6 ( 6.4.0.8 ).

It seems to be related with large volume of binary data being updated and for some reason the variable looses scope in the next statement.

Please find a fix because it takes 2 days to check and fix the amount of scripts we need, by trial and error.

Also as smarter aproach for deletes would be to delete consecutive rows that have integer primary index by range and not one by one.

RE: SQL Data Compare 9 - Comparing Different Datatypes

I received the following response from support:

Quote:

Thank you for your support request and thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

I was able to replicate the issue using SQL Data Comnpare v9.1.0.365 and the new V10.0.1.119

I suspect that the documentation is incorrect and the product is working correctly, as personally I would not expect that you would be able to match nvarchar datatype to numeric datatype.

I have submitted a bug report to the SQL Data Compare Development Team to bring this issue to their attention. The reference for this bug report is SDC-1325.

Once again, thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Sadly, I do not have a work around for the issue to offer at this time.
