SQL Saturday is coming to Cambridge on 10 September

SQLSaturday520

SQL Saturday #520 arrives in Cambridge on Saturday, 10 September, and we’re delighted to be sponsoring the event. This year, 30 speakers including some familiar faces will be coming to the city from all over the world.

The conference run by SQLCambs consists of a free day of training for technology professionals, covering a wide range of subject areas including SQL Server, SharePoint, Hyper-V, System Center, Cloud, Business Analytics, and Personal Development. The day is also preceded by two Pre-conference training days on the Thursday and Friday. Check out the topics and take advantage of Redgate’s discount code ‘RG40’, which gives you 40% off the normal price when registering.

The agenda for Saturday offers seven hours of training, and Redgate is pleased to announce three Redgaters will be presenting during the day.

steve-150x150Steve Jones, Data Platform MVP and editor of SQLServerCentral, will present two sessions:

10:00 am End-to-End Encryption and Security in SQL Server 2016

2:30 pm: Continuous Integration for Databases

Grant-Fritchey2Ally_ParkerGrant Fritchey, Data Platform MVP, and Ally Parker, a developer on Redgate’s innovative Data Platform Studio, will be doing a joint presentation during the lunch-time break, which will be of particular interest to those who are considering Azure SQL Data Warehouse:

12:15 pm: From on-prem to Azure SQL Data Warehouse using Redgate Data Platform Studio

The session will introduce the new product now being developed by Redgate which makes migrating data to Azure SQL Data Warehouse fast and easy.

In the afternoon, Grant Fritchey will be hosting one of the Charity minicons, Execution plans workshop. This session requires registration in advance via eventbrite, and there’s a £20 registration fee which goes directly to a local children’s cancer charity, Copars.

Don’t forget the networking opportunities

Sessions are ultimately the most important aspect of any conference, but the second at an event like this is the time you spend networking.

TweetForaTreatWe’re excited to announce that for the first time Redgate is providing a social vending machine for attendees and speakers to enjoy throughout the event. The vending machine will be stocked full of treats from Redgate and all attendees need to do to earn one is answer a simple question and post a tweet. Treats will vary from a useful travel cup to a handy 4GB USB flash drive to a lifesaving license of SQL Prompt, plus many more rewards worth thousands of pounds. There’s no purchase necessary, but there is one restriction – treats will only be dispensed to attendees who are physically at the event in Cambridge.

If you haven’t yet registered for SQL Saturday #520 in Cambridge, be sure to sign up online for free. Not only will you benefit from a memorable day of free training, you’ll also be able to get yourself a treat from Redgate. We’re hoping our #redgatetreat social vending machine will be enjoyed by everyone who attends.

If you’re travelling to Cambridge for the event, be sure to make some time for the beautiful sights while you’re in town. If you’ve never explored the city, I’d recommend spending the Sunday touring the historic streets. You can visit some of the independent shops, cafes and restaurants, or take a punt on the river – there’s no better way to see the Cambridge colleges dotted along the River Cam. Simply book a tour with Scudamore’s Punting Company, or hire a self-hire punt and learn the art of punting with new friends made at the event. If you’d like a beer and want to pretend you’re actually in Germany, you’re in luck – Jesus Green is also being turned into Oktoberfest from Thursday, 8 September, to Sunday, 12 September.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Redgate’s home town of Cambridge. See you in September!
