Product uses web help although a CHM file is available locally

Category: Troubleshooting & error messages

Product: all products

Some Red Gate Products allow you to download a help file in compressed HTML (CHM) format, bypassing the default web help system, for users who are not connected to the Internet. Despite copying the CHM file to the product's installation folder, the product continues to access web help from the Red Gate website.

The CHM file that you had downloaded was produced for a different version of the product. Even if this is the case, it may still be possible to use it by renaming the help file to include the version number of the product, for instance, if you have installed SQL Compare, version 5, and have installed SQLCompare6.CHM, renaming this file to SQLCompare5.CHM will deactivate webhelp.

Optimally, you will want to have the correct version of the help file that corresponds to your product version. If you cannot find this on the Red Gate website, please request the appropriate help file from support@red-gate.com.
