This page provides answers to questions you may have about upgrading Red Gate products:
For troubleshooting information, see Troubleshooting Check for Updates errors.
What is the latest version and how do I download it?
If you have already installed the product, you can find out the latest version by clicking Check for Updates on the Help menu of the product. The Check for Updates dialog box displays all the updates that are available to you. To download an update, click Download and Install.
I have downloaded the latest version but don't want to upgrade. How can I revert to my previous version?
In most cases, you can run the latest version of the product in parallel with the previous version.
For SQL Backup:
Installing a later version of SQL Backup will overwrite any earlier versions that are already installed. We therefore recommend that you try out the latest version on a test server.
For ANTS Profiler:
Version 3 does not coexist well with version 1.
However, if you download and install a minor release, it will overwrite the previous version; for example, if you were using SQL Compare 6.1 and you downloaded and installed version 6.2, version 6.2 would overwrite version 6.1.
If you want to revert to a previous version, you can download older versions of our products. Note that you will need the serial number for the previous version, if you want to activate it.
How much will it cost to upgrade to the latest version?
If you have a support and upgrades package, you can obtain free upgrades from the Upgrade center.
If you do not have a support and upgrades package, you can try out major releases using the free 14-day trial. To find out how much it will cost to upgrade to the latest version, see Upgrading your software.
