Setting SQL Compare options within SQL Source Control

The default SQL Source Control options work well for most situations. However, your particular database or working practices may require you to change a SQL Source Control engine options.

In version 3.0.5 and higher, you can set these options by modifying a configuration file. To do this:

  1. Go to the SQL Source Control tab.
  2. In the Object Explorer on the left, highlight the database you want to set the options for.
  3. In the main window, right-click the Linked to database path, and select "Edit Compare Options...".

The Edit Database Compare Options dialog is shown:

  4. Set the SQL Compare engine options you want to use to "True". You can turn off options by setting them to "False".

To find out more about the effects the options have, see Setting project options - SQL Compare.

  5. Click Save Options.
The options are saved for your database.
  6. Go to the Commit Changes tab.

The change is waiting to be committed:

  7. Make sure the options change is selected, and click Commit.

After committing, other people on your team can get your option changes, making sure everyone works with the same options.

To find out more about committing changes, see Comitting changes.
