Upgrading from Version 1.0 to 1.1 where the SQL Response Client and Alert Repository exist on the same machine
Category: Installing & upgrading
Date: 10 Jun 2009
Product: SQL Response
Versions: 1.0,1.1
Fix version: 1.2
When upgrading using either the 'Check for Updates' utility or from the SQL Toolbelt Installer, this process will only upgrade the SQL Response Client. This only occurs if the SQL Response Client V1.0 and SQL Response Alert Repository 1.0 exist on the same machine.
Normally the SQL Response Alert Repository will be located on it's own dedicated machine and users will connect to the Alert Repository from their SQL Response Client installed upon their workstation. However in some environments, for example a testing setup, the SQL Response Alert Repository and Client may exist on the same machine.
To upgrade the SQL Response Alert Repository:
1. Open the SQL Response Client.
2. Alert Repository menu -> Alert Repository Setup.
3. Select the following options:
a. 'Install a new Alert Repository:'
b. 'On this server'.
4. Click the 'Next' Button.
Follow the remaining steps of the SQL Response Alert Repository Setup Wizard.
The above actions will upgrade the SQL Response Alert Repository to Version 1.1. In the version 1.2 and later installers, the behavior has changed so that you are prompted as to whether or not you want to upgrade the Alert Repository.
