Downgrading to SQL prompt 3.9 from 4.0

Category: Installing & upgrading
Date: 05 Jun 2009
Product: SQL Prompt
If you have SQL Prompt 3.9 running on your machine and you upgrade to 4.0, 4.0 will disable 3.9 and you have 4.0 available in your SSMS/Visual studio/Query Analyser.

If you need to downgrade to SQL Prompt 3.9, you can uninstall 4.0 but this will never ever enable 3.9 again, even though it is physically present on your server.

Two things could have happened:
1. Enabled SQL Prompt 3.9 after removing 4.0 from your machine.
2. Never installed 4.0 side by side with SQL Prompt 3.9

If any of the above things doesn't happen please go through the solution given below.

1. Uninstall SQL Prompt 3.9 from the machine
2. Navigate to the following path in the registry using the Windows Registry Editor (by typing 'regedit' in the run window):
HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/90 (where ever you have your SQL server installed)/Tools/Shell/AddIns
If you find any registry values starting with "RedGate" in this key, follow these steps:
                · Delete the "RedGate" values.
                · Close the registry editor window
                · Run SqlWb.exe /setup to re-initialize Management Studio's interface
                · Check again by opening SSMS

3. Install SQL Prompt 3.9 on your machine

And it should fix the issue..
