SDK activation prompt may appear when starting a new SQL Compare project

Category: Troubleshooting & error messages
Date: 08 Jun 2009
Product: SQL Compare
Platforms: Windows Vista, Sysinternals "RunAs"
When creating a new SQL Compare project, a pop-up dialog prompts to activate the SQL Comparison SDK.

This is a known issue when using the Sysinternals "Run as a Different User" application for Windows Vista. Either connect to the database using the SQL Server sa account credentials or write a batch file to run RedGate.SQLCompare.UI.exe that uses the Windows command-line "RunAs" command to run the application under a different users' Windows credentials.
