When running SQL Compare 7.1 and comparing databases hosted on 64-bit editions of SQL Server having Encrypted Objects, you may experience the following error in the Registering databases phase :
"Index was outside the bounds of the array"
Please contact our support center at support@red-gate.com to obtain a patch to fix the problem.
If you have a critical need to use the software and would like to work around the issue temporarily, you can prevent this error from stopping your comparison session by disabling the decryption of encrypted objects on SQL Server 2005.
Select the Options tab from the Project Configuration menu and locate the Decrypt encrypted objects in SQL 2005 and 2008 databases option.
Deselect this option and re-run your comparison.
Your comparison should now run successfully but unfortunately any Encrypted objects will be displayed as different.
