Extended properties not permitted error (version 5.2)

Category: Troubleshooting & error messages
Date: 05 Jun 2009
Product: SQL Compare
Versions: 5.2, 5.3
Fix Version: 6.0

When synchronizing database containing table valued function with extended properties set for its columns or parameters, SqlCompare displays the following error:

The following error message was returned from the SQL Server:

[15135] Object is invalid. Extended properties are not permitted on 'dbo.f1.@id2', or the object does not exist.
The following SQL command caused the error:
sp_addextendedproperty N'prop1', N'109', 'USER', N'dbo', 'FUNCTION', N'f1', 'COLUMN', N'@id2'

(In the example above name of function is "f1" and "@id2" is name of its parameter)

The cause of this error was an incorrect assumption about extended properties in SQL Compare. This has since been fixed in SQL Compare version 6. Upgrading will prevent this issue from happening.
