Warning: System error 1450 when Backing up

You may get the following set of errors in the SQL backup log:


7/14/2008 3:00:15 AM: Warning 210: Thread 0 warning:
Warning 210: Error writing to backup file: \\srv\backup\20080714_030009.sqb
Warning: System error 1450 (Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service)
7/14/2008 3:00:15 AM:
SQL error 3013: SQL error 3013: BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
SQL error 3202: SQL error 3202: Write on 'SQLBACKUP_53DBE8FA-51DC-41AD-A06F-E2FB94C1261E' failed, status = 1117. See the SQL Server error log for more details.

The key part of the log is the following, which is a Windows error:

"Warning: System error 1450 (Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service) "

Also- some have found that by configuring back-up to a local disk ameliorates this situation since it means the server use less resources.
