Mirrorfile backup jobs producing corrupt files

Category: Troubleshooting & error messages
Date: 28 Oct 2009
Product: SQL Backup
After performing an encrypted backup using the MIRRORFILE option (multiple simultaneous backups of the same database to different files), the file may not restore because of corruption in the file header.

This is a known issue with SQL Backup that has been addressed in a patch. The patch and installation instructions are available at <ftp://support.red-gate.com/patches/SQL_Backup/SQB_6_2_0_1004.zip>.

If you have found a corrupted backup produced by SQL Backup and cannot restore it successfully, a utility is available that will attempt to repair the file so that it can be restored successfully. This tool is available from <ftp://support.red-gate.com/patches/SQL_Backup/SQBHeaderPatcher.zip>.
