Restore wizard: files incorrectly labeled 'Missing' when browsing for a backup file to restore.

You may find that on step 1 of the restore wizard, SQL Backup will label a file as 'Missing' after browsing for a backup file to restore.

e.g. Missing: \\servername\sharename\FULL_SQL2005_AdventureWorks_20080822_204537.sqb

If you find this, it is likely to be caused by account permissions.

When using the SQL Backup File Browser, SQL Backup will use the credentials of the account that you are logged into Windows with, but verification of the file is done by the "SQL Backup Agent" service for that instance of SQL Server.

If the startup account for the service does not have the necessary permissions to the network share, then it will report the file as 'Missing'. Not because it is missing, but because the "SQL Backup Agent" user does not have access to the folder.

You may resolve this by granting the "SQL Backup Agent" service startup account read/write access to the folder/network location.

To check the SQL Backup Agent user account go to: Control Panel >> Admin Tools >> Services
Find the SQL Backup Agent for the instance, and then right-click >> Properties >> Logon
