Console does not support editing the command you selected

In SQL Backup 5 when choosing a job from the job tab, right clicking and choosing the Edit option, the following error may be shown:

"GUI does not support editing the command you selected"

The GUI doesn't attempt to edit jobs that don't conform to a relatively strict syntax. This is primarily to avoid fringe cases where the GUI might think it can successfully edit your job, but could end up losing advanced syntax when saving it back. Preserving the integrity of the job is more important than always being able to edit from the GUI.

If you've edited the command in Enterprise Manager / SSMS then there's a good chance that you won't be able to edit the job using the GUI. You will also get the 'Cannot edit command' box if you try to edit a restore job or a native SQL Server job. The GUI does not support editing either of these jobs. You will have to edit the job script manually via SQL Server Management Studio if you want to make any changes to either a restore job or a native job.

SQL Backup version 6 will allow jobs modified outside of SQL Backup to be edited. Upgrading will solve this issue, provided that the arguments passed to the "sqlbackup" extended stored procedure are correct.
