MAPI_E_NOT_FOUND error logging on to mailbox

Category: Troubleshooting & error messages

You may experience a MAPI_E_NOT_FOUND in the Archive Service log file for the login to mailbox process.

Newer versions of CDO/MAPI for Exchange 2007 are incompatible with the Exchange Abstraction library in ESA. To check the version of the CDO/MAPI installation, first, determine if you have CDO/MAPI installed by looking at Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features and see if you have installed "Messaging API and Collaboration Data Objects". Next, use desktop search to find "emsmdb32.dll". If the version of this file is greater than 6.5.8039, uninstall and replace this version with the version that ESA was built and tested against.

You can download and install the version of MAPI from the Red Gate FTP site:

<ftp://ftp.red-gate.com/development/exchange/ExchangeMapiCdo.MSI>

You must also ensure that each of the Exchange servers have a Public Folders database, even if it is empty.
