ActiveX component can't create object error accessing archived message through OWA Basic

When trying to retrieve an archived message through an Outlook Web Access session, the following error can occur:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01ad'
ActiveX component can't create object
/Exchweb/bin/RedGateExchangeServerArchiver.asp, line 7

The reason for this failure could be a security patch to Internet Explorer 7 (KB937143). This update changes permissions to the registry so the application pool process hosting the ESA OWA add-in cannot determine the security zone and therefore will prevent the COM component from loading. To solve the problem, grant read access to the local IUSR_ and IWAM_ accounts to the following registry key:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones
After making this change, you must recycle the application pool that is servicing Outlook Web Access using the IIS Administrator Control Panel applet.
Note: the registry location to change may differ depending on the Security Identifier of the user set as the application pool identity. HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18 is the registry hive for the SYSTEM account, which is the identity used in the OWA application pool by default.
