Release notes - version 1.1

SQL Source Control is an add-in for SQL Server Management Studio that allows you to source control your databases.

Note that SQL Source Control is not a source control system; it allows you to store your databases in your existing source control system.

This article discusses:

Features in version 1.1

Version 1.0 of SQL Source Control includes the following new features:

  • The ability to view log and history information within SQL Server Management Studio

You now can view the history of changes for a database or database object by right-clicking it in the Object Explorer, and clicking Show History

For more in formation, see Viewing source control logs / history

  • Support for SVN bug IDs and TFS work items

You can now link a commit to an SVN bug ID, or mark it as associated with or resolving a TFS work item.

For more information, see Using SVN bug IDs & TFS work items

  • Support for x64 assemblies

Version 1.1 fixes the issues some users encountered problems committing x64 assemblies.

  • Rapid deployment with SQL Server Management Studio Integration Pack

SQL Source Control integrates with SQL Compare 8.5 or later, and the SQL Server Management Studio Integration Pack, allowing you to choose a database version in source control and deploy it.

For more information, see Deploying a database from source control

Bug reports and feedback

We are continuing to develop SQL Source Control, and we value any feedback you may have.

Please let us know about any issues you may encounter.

If SQL Source Control encounters a serious issue, you may see an error report dialog box:

Please click Send Error Report, and - if possible - provide detailed feedback, as these reports are extremely valuable to us.

These error reports may include:

  • a stack trace
  • your SQL Server and operating system version
  • the Windows user you are logged in as, and your domain

This is so we can identify recurrent bugs.

  • information from the SQL Source Control logs

In some conditions, they may contain information about your database schema.
