SQL Response produces two different types of log file, client log files and the Alert Repository log file. These files are useful to us if you have encountered a problem.

Client log files collect information about the client application while you are using it.

The Alert Repository log file collects information about the Alert Repository while it is running. The Alert Repository runs either on a network server or your local computer, depending on where it was installed.

For more information on the Alert Repository, see Installing and connecting to the Alert Repository.

Locating the log files

To open the folder where the client log files are stored:

  • Right-click the client application title bar and click Locate Client Log Files.

    LogFiles

The client log file for the current session is selected in the folder. Double-click the file to open it in your default text editor. By default, client log files are located in:

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Red Gate\Logs

To view the Alert Repository log file, click Copy Alert Repository Log File. The log file is copied from the Alert Repository logging folder into the client log files folder. Copying the Alert Repository log file to a local folder can be useful if the Alert Repository is installed on a network server.
