Migrating your Alert Repository from Windows 2000
This article explains how to move your Alert Repository from a computer running Windows 2000 to another computer. Windows 2000 is no longer a supported operating system for running the SQL Response Alert Repository.
After moving your Alert Repository, all your alert data will still be available. You will not lose any information about any of your monitored SQL Servers.
To move the Alert Repository
- Close down any SQL Response clients that are running.
- Stop the SQL Response Alert Repository Service
- From the Control panel, select Administrative Tools, and then select Services.
- Right-click the entry for SQL Response Alert Repository Service and select Stop.
- Copy the Alert Repository data files to the new computer
The folder used to store all the Alert Repository data files was specified when you first installed the Alert Repository.
- Default for Windows 2000, XP, 2003:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Red Gate\SQL Response 1 - Default for Windows Vista, 2008:
C:\ProgramData\Red Gate\SQL Response 1Copy all the contents of the data folder (including all subfolders) to a suitable folder on the target computer.

Right-click in turn on each SQL Server in the Servers to show area, and select Deactivate Server License.

In the SQL Response client, on the Alert Repository menu, select Alert Repository Setup.
When you enter the location for the Alert Repository data folder, ensure you specify the folder into which you copied the original repository data.
- Connect to the new repository with the SQL Response client
Right click in turn on each SQL Server in the Servers to show area, and select Activate Server License.
