When using SQL Dependency Tracker, you may encounter the error "File or assembly name vjslib, or one of its dependencies, was not found".
This error generally occurs if the Visual J# Runtime is not installed.
The Visual J# redistributable is a prerequisite for SQL Dependency Tracker, and is downloaded and installed automatically when you install SQL Dependency Tracker. However, network errors at install time can prevent the installation from completing successfully.
There are two possible solutions for this error:
- Uninstall and re-install SQL Dependency Tracker
- Install the Visual J# Runtime
Note that SQL Dependency Tracker supports .NET 1.1 and 2.0; if both versions are installed, SQL Dependency Tracker runs under version 1.1
- If you have .NET version 1.1 installed, even if you also have version 2.0, you should download and install the Visual J# redistributable for .NET 1.1
- If you have only .NET version 2.0 installed, you should download and install the Visual J# redistributable for .NET 2.0
