Disabling the Outlook Add-in

You may wish to temporarily disable the Outlook Add-in, for example, when you are evaluating Exchange Server Archiver.

When you disable the Outlook Add-in:

  • for messages that have been archived, placeholders are displayed

    For details, see Using the Outlook Add-in.

  • the Exchange Server Archiver Search toolbar is not removed, but becomes inactive

    To hide or remove the toolbar, on the Tools menu, click Customize.

Outlook 2007

You must have administrator privileges to disable the add-in. If you are using Windows Vista, you must also run as administrator; in the Start menu, right-click Outlook 2007 and then click Run as administrator.

To disable the Outlook Add-in:

  1. In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click Trust Center.
  2. Click Add-ins.
  3. At the bottom of the Add-ins page, in the Manage box, select COM Add-ins and click Go.
  4. Clear the check box for Red Gate Exchange Server Archiver Outlook 2007 Add-in.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Close and restart Outlook.

To re-enable the add-in, open the Trust Center again and select the check box.

Outlook 2003

To disable the Outlook Add-in:

  1. Close Outlook.
  2. Open the registry editor, and navigate to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
    \RedGate.ExchangeArchiver.OutlookAddin.Addin2003.Extensibility

  3. Modify the registry key LoadBehaviour value to be 0 (zero).
  4. Restart Outlook.

To re-enable the add-in, set the LoadBehaviour value to be 3.
