Data Generator will generate hierarchyid's but the results don't seem to be all that useful, that is they are just randomly generated as other kinds of values are. It would be very useful if it generated a hierarchy.
Is there any way to get is to generate an actual hierarchy?
tnx,

We have logged your feature request for true hierarchy IDs in our tracking system with reference SDG-875. It will be looked at for a future release of SQL Data Generator although we currently have no timescales for this.
Many Thanks

| I was wondering if this topic has evolved since it has been posted. I would like to know if Red Gate can generate meaningfull hierarchies for tables containing hierarchyid data type. |

Sorry, we're no closer to this. The current focus here at Red Gate right now is to work on our end to end story covering source control, database continuous integration and app/database deployment.
Once we've got this nailed we'll review the other tools in the portfolio. In all honesty this isn't going to be this year. Sorry!
Kind regards,
David Atkinson
