Hi,

You need to have ANTS Load 1.75 as a prerequisite to this update: ftp://ftp.red-gate.com/OLD/Misc/ANTSLoad.exe
Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I moved the old DLLs off to a backup folder and then copied the new files to C:\Program Files\ANTS Load. When I launch the program I receive a 'couldn't execute assembly' error. When I click OK the system crashes.

RE: ANTS Load Not Registering in IIS Logs

Hi,

The root of the problem is more than likely that ANTS Load never, ever supported Ajax. The script recorder only understood x-www-urlencoded post data and not raw XML.

I have got an internal, private update I can send to version 1.75 that may or may not work, depending on your implementation of AJAX. Basically, it records the post data in raw bytes if it cannot determine the post data encoding type, which works well for generic AJAX, but makes it slightly difficult to make changes to the test script, for instance, to replace any data with State Information.

If you would like the patch, please send me an email. Note that you need ANTS Load 1.75, so you may need to update the software first.

ANTS Load Not Registering in IIS Logs

OK, I have been messing around with this for a while and I cannot get it it work. I am running the latest version of ANTs Load on one server and capturing counters on another remote server. I am running a secure web-based app which has a .NET 2.0 framework, heavy AJAX front end and SQL Server 2005. I record a script and then run the load test and everything appears to be just fine and dandy. However, when I look in the IIS logs I do not see any activity. We also have a little cache manager utility which shows registered users and their cache in memory allotment and I do not see anything registering there either. Additionally, no database updates are being made. When I first record the script I see activity in the IIS logs, cache manager and DB so I know it is working when I manually test.

Any suggestions on next steps to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks.
RE: Sample webpage will not display when recording script (IE7)

Hi MJ,

I have one suggestion -- for security reasons, Microsoft does not allow a web proxy to be installed on a computer on localhost to access a website hosted on the same computer also on localhost. You may try using the 'proper' IP address or network name of the machine in the web browser's address window rather than 127.0.0.1 or localhost.

Hello all,

I have just installed the ANTS Load 1.75.0 (Build 4) . I am able to view the tutorial website when I am not recording a script. However, when I do try to record a script, my browser is unable to display the sample page. The browser I am using is IE7. I have already unchecked "Use Http through proxy connections"...Any more suggestions?

Thanks,
RE: Ants Spike Test Always Fails

Hello,

I suppose there are a few things you could look into to make the test results appear 'successful'. On one hand, you could up the number of seconds that are unacceptable for 5% of requests or more in the load settings. You can also 'ignore the first x seconds of the test'. Sometimes, you will get a few requests that are way, way off, and you can possibly filter these out this way.

It also depends on the test scenario -- for instance maybe your site can handle 5 users, but if the Sleep() pauses in the script are really short or nonexistent, it's not a realistic test. A real user might stop to read a page for a few minutes, for instance, so long pages should have long sleep times between them. Any recorded script be accurate already as the Sleep times are the same as the user session that had created the script. If the script was created by hand, though, there is a possibility that you're following one request right after another, which would probably be many more requests per second than 5 users would normally generate.

Hello Brian,

The failure is always : 5 virtual clients *FAILED*

If I use a greater point then I get that number.

I would say it is the site, but I have tested numerous sites that I know can handle way more then 5 users at a time.

Hello,

Can you please let me know what the failure is? For instance, do the results show that the test failed (5% of requests fell outside of the set criteria) or does the ANTS Load program actually throw an error message?

Thanks!

Ants Spike Test Always Fails

Hey,

I am trying to do a spike test and it always fails for me. I try as low as a 5 user spike test. The script size does not matter (I went as low as just logging in to an e-mail account and e-mail myself a simple message).

I have tried this test from a P4 PC with 1gig ram and high speed connection, as well as trying this from a server.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I am feeling foolish here. I somehow read the install instructions for the scrip tester to say I needed to install the tool in the same directory as the load tool. I reread the directions today and see that is not at all what the instructions say. Sorry to waste your time on this mistake of mine.
