I can read more IBM 000-283 certification exam objectives and topics from the official site. However, I want to get more study materials or practice exam for it. Please recommend it.

Hi,

It is possible that when we release SQL Source Control, Scream will be deprecated in favour of what will be a superior method of maintaining schema versions.

Can I ask what you current use case is for Scream as part of your existing process?

New version of Scream?

The 0.8 version of SQL Scream gives the following error "The database snapshot was saved by a newer version of SQL Compare" when attempting to open a snapshot created by either SQL Snapper version 8.1.2.48 or SQL Compare version 8.1.2.63.

Can the Scream utility be updated to work with the current Compare versions?

Simple Version Control for SQL Server

I'll admit I'm spoiled. I started using VisualSVN several months ago and couldn't be happier. However, VisualSVN doesn't work with SSMS and isn't really meant to manage versioning for database objects.

VisualSVN makes version control in Visual Studio *extremely* easy. What I'd love to see from RedGate is an add-in to SSMS that makes source control just as easy. Script out all the objects in the db to individual files. Detect when an object changes and update its script. Allow me to commit those changes to source control from within SSMS. Let me diff the changes or revert to previous versions. In a nutshell, let me apply verson control to my databases.

Yes, because of SQL Compare 8 the time has come for a new version so here it is.

This version has a link to this forum included and also Check For Updates so when the next version is released you can find out easily enough.

This is also now built using our new installer technology so you'll have to un-install previous versions although they'll live happily enough on the same machine.

Ok, I confirm that 0.4 is now behind the link, and that appears to be built against 6.1

However Sql Compare (and hence my snapshots) are now 6.2, so I still can't open the snapshots in scream.

So it's back to my binding redirection then: http://www.red-gate.com/MessageBoard/viewtopic.php?t=6463

This is a pretty silly state of affairs. Can I suggest bundling Scream with SQL Compare (even if you still leave it as a seperate download)? Otherwise we're always going to be playing catchup.

Many apologies for the delay. We've just rectified this now and replaced the 0.3 version with the 0.4 version, so it should work with SQL Compare 6.2.

V6 issues: A solution

Ok, so while we're waiting for RedGate to release the real v6 version of scream (see http://www.red-gate.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=5451), here's a hacky workaround that works for me:

Copy the following assemblies from your RedGate\Sql Compare 6 folder into your Red Gate Scream folder:

RedGate.SQL.Controls.dll
RedGate.SQL.Shared.DLL
RedGate.SQLCompare.ASTParser.dll
RedGate.SQLCompare.Engine.dll

Add the following as RedGate.Scream.exe.config to force Scream to run in Framework 2, and against the updated assemblies:

I just uninstalled the old version, downloaded the new and had the 'wrong snapshot version' error.

It seems like this version of scream is still linked to the old SQL Compare 5 dll:

RedGate.SQLCompare.Engine.dll 5.3.0.44

Is the wiki just linking to the old zip file somehow? Or did you zip the wrong files?

[Update: BeyondCompare says the zip file is identical to the zip of the previous version, which I still have handy]

I've been trying to update my installation of Scream for a while, and have downloaded it several different occasions, but it only ever installs v0.3 regardless of whether I repair or uninstall and reinstall. Am I really losing it?

SQL Changeset has now been released as part of SQL Compare 6.2 Pro.
This provides integration between SQL Compare and source control when synching from a live database to a source-controlled scripts folder. The supported source control systems are VSS and TFS, although other SCCI-compliant systems should also work.

Check for Updates from SQL Compare should provide you with a link to the upgrade. Please post your feedback to the forum
