Summary: Many Panasonic AG-HPX 3100 users complained that there are many problems when editing DVCPRO HD P2 MXF in Sony Vegas Pro. That�s mainly because that Sony Vegas doesn�t have native support for the DVCPRO HD P2 MXF files. Read this article to find a quick fix to resolve the issues.

If you are the Panasonic P2HD Camcorders users like AJ-HPX3100 (as well as AG-HVX200, AG-HPX250, AJ-HPX3700, AG-HPX170, AG-HPX500, AG-HPX370), you should know that the generated recordings are in P2 MXF video format. While, when using Sony Vegas Pro to perform further editing, you will find Sony Vegas Pro does not work well with the Panasonic P2 MXF videos.

Anyway, since Sony Vegas can�t recognize Panasonic MXF files, how to import Panasonic P2 MXF to Sony Vegas for editing? Actually, Sony Vegas deals very well with MPEG-2, WMV files, so you can convert these damned P2 MXF files to MPEG-2, WMV for Sony Vegas.

What we need is a powerful third-party transcoder. Click the convert button under the preview window, and the Panasonic P2 MXF Converter will start converting the P2 MXF to MPG for Sony Vegas Pro.

After the conversion, import the MPEG-2 videos to Sony Vegas and adjust the Project Properties of the video file.

Stunning that having been a user of SQL Prompt since version 2 I assumed it would be smart enough to prompt whenever I typed! Intelliview appears to be smarter.

Guess I'll have to suggest that it do that...

What's more strange is that if I type "SELECT * FROM x" I get a pick list, so I duly select the database and it's auto-filled. If I then DOUBLE-CLICK the database and immediately type "x" I get a pick list! And I didn't have to Ctrl+space to get it!

So, what it boils down to is that SQL Prompt exercises "situational compliance" with my double-click-type-and-expect-a-pick-list demands.

Perhaps you can now see why I consider the original post to highlight a BUG.

I would venture to suggest that SQL Prompt be made CONSISTENT. It is VERY typical for developers to double-click, type, and expect a pick list. Would you register a case, please, as a bug, and fix it? Maybe while you're at it you'd give an option for this kind of expected behavior (by some) to be "normal" or "inactive", so nobody is upset.

Thanks for your reply PDinCA.

That is how prompt is supposed to behave.

When you are typing the query that's when SQL Prompt keeps automatically prompting but when you are trying to replace a word (by double clicking) and want a code completion suggestion it needs to be manually triggered by (Ctrl + Space).

If you want this behaviour to be changed please feel free to add this feature to our Uservoice.

Unfortunately this isn't possible in SQL Prompt at the moment.

Please feel free to add your vote or if there is one already kindly vote for it here.

And then the project manager can directly decide what category this requirement comes under?

Hello,

Is there any option in SQL Prompt 5 to format SELECT and other queries so that the column and table names are all lowercase?

For example, an option that would turn this code:

Many thanks for your post and apologies for inconvenience caused.

If you wish to alter the behaviour of SQL Prompt where it does not suggest variables over large blocks of SQL or fails to provide help with large scripts, you can edit the RedGate_SQLPrompt_Engine_EngineOptions.xml file.

This file should be in the below location:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Red Gate\SQL Prompt 5

The string in the file you need to edit is <ParserLookBackDistance>5000</ParserLookBackDistance><ParserLookAheadDistance>3000</ParserLookAheadDistance>

The figure detailed here is in bytes. You can decrease the look back distance as much as you like. However please be aware that increasing the value; depending on your hardware, there may be a considerable degradation in the performance of the tool.

Scratch the original posted error message. That was due to attempting to increase this setting <ParserLookBackDistance>5000</ParserLookBackDistance>

This did not make a difference.

As I type in the Query Window I am able to type 30 + character before the characters appear on the screen.
Version: 5.3.6.28 Professional Edition
Items tested
1. When the query is saved (does not matter if local to PC or network) the slowness appears
2. If "Disable Code Suggestion" is set then there is NOT a performance issue.
3. Red Gate log file reports the below error.
4. Checked for update. No new updates.
5. Query is only 134 lines

Scope would appear to be the issue but having commented the go out, double-clicked 116, typed @S I get nothing at all by way of prompting. If I Ctrl+Space I get the variables, but I shouldn't have to do that...

What happens when you comment 'Go' 10th line that is the 'Go' just before EXEC key word?

Does SQL Prompt suggest the variables after that?

Having added a list of DECLAREd variables to my 17-line script, shown below, I expect SQL Prompt to prompt me with a variable if I double-click the literal 116 in the exec and type @S. Nothing but three @@ variables. This is SO BASIC it's near unbelievable that v5 doesn't perform the simplest of its tasks...

SSMS2012 build 11.0.3339.0 - Windows 8 Pro build 6.2.9200.

Ctrl+D was forlornly a long shot - made no difference.

Is the declare list throwing it off? Are the declared values included in the list throwing it off?

If this isn't already a case, please add one...

Yes you can make SQL Prompt install silently.

You need to run the SQL Prompt installer on the command-line:

SQL Prompt_5.x.x..exe /IAgreeToTheEULA RG_LICENSE=AAA-BBB-CCCCCC-DDDD

Where the exe is the name of the executable installer you have and the serial number goes at the end. Most of the time, when this fails it is because you are installing as the SYSTEM account and that doesn't have Internet Proxy configured so the activation fails.
