RE: External authentication for schema compare

Hi,

Thanks for your message and apologies for the slow reply, this slipped under the radar.

You can connect manually and via TNS (using your TNSnames.ora file).

Are you referring to Windows authentication? Or perhaps OID?

We recently had a request for OID which I posted on our feature request forum: http://redgate.uservoice.com/forums/174014-oracle-tools/suggestions/4017215-connect-via-oid

Best regards,
RE: Upgrade to Latest Version Breaks Schema Compare.

For some databases, Schema Compare just hangs on the postprocessing step of the compare with an insufficient memory to continue the execution of the program error. At this point Schema Compare has a memory usage (Private Working Set) of 3,859,200K. I'm thinking something is wrong

Do you want a memory dump?

Hi Dave,

You can find a previous version here:

ftp://support.red-gate.com/patches/SchemaCompareforOracle/14May2013/SchemaCompareforOracle_3.0.0.542.exe

What error are you experiencing with the latest version?

Thanks,
Comparing the databases hangs, until the application crashes. Schema compare is not usable is this state.

Is there a way to revert back to a previous version?

Thanks,

RE: schema compare and queue tables and queues

Hi Melissa,

Queues and queue tables aren't yet supported, how many of each do you have?

Here is our list of currently supported objects types:
https://documentation.red-gate.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=6750392

Are there any other object types you use not included there? If you could let us know the relative importance of each that would be very helpful.

Best regards,

Is there a way to set up my schema compare so that it will find my queues and queue tables?

Hi Jimmy,

Can you give me an example of this please? The DDL for the source and target table would help me recreate it.

Thanks,
I wonder why the schema compare will drop and recreate a constraint even though the constraints in source and target are the same.

Yes, I would like to hear about any workarounds that I could try!

Michael Christofides wrote:

Thank you for the comments. As you've noticed, this isn't supported, but there is a workaround that works in some cases. It depends on the current format of the files you have, but normally involves rearranging folder structures (to match ours) and adding empty xml files in specific places. If you're interested in trying it out let us know and we'll happily work through it with you.

I recently downloaded v3.0 of Schema Compare for Oracle and I not only have existing DDL files that I would like to compare against, but also I rely on generating DDL from our data modeling tool. When I used to have a SQL Server target, using Schema Compare (for SQL Server) against DDL generated by that same tool worked like a charm, so I was hoping for the same experience on Oracle.
